victims (shocking pinks)

1. Pões o teu iTunes iPod (ou qualquer outro leitor mp3 à escolha) em modo SHUFFLE/RANDOM;
2. Para cada uma das questões abaixo, pressionas o botão para avançar para o próximo tema;

E a música é absolutamente fantástica.

ganglians - never mind

l_e8801e12048d47389a1d7f4cb98d326d.jpg

Black Lips' Jared Swilley Attacks Wavves

"He needs to go back to school or move back in with his parents." Black Lips' Jared Swilley Attacks Wavves

The fallout from Nathan Williams' onstage meltdown during Wavves' set at Barcelona's Primavera Sound Festival continues. First, he apologized on his blog, then deleted his apology, and finally, cancelled his European tour. And now, mustachioed Black Lips singer/bassist Jared Swilley, a man responsible for more than his share of onstage chaos and wreckage, has publicly blasted Williams, saying that he should quit music. If there's one thing the Black Lips can't stand, it's unprofessionalism.

yuppies.jpgYUPPIES

Shit-pop from the land of the mighty Brimstone Howl, which shows that even the corn belt isn't immune to the influence of the mighty Shitgaze. Firstly, this tape was dubbed really shittily, so I hate to give a review based on what may be an inferior representation of what a band is capable of. I went to their Myspace page (gag) and checked the same songs out there and they sounded a million times better. As I've said elsewhere on this page, even tapes require some care...take some time to make them sound good kids. So uh, even though I said the songs sound a million times better, that still don't mean I like it all. At their best, Yuppies sound like a bunch of kids who don't give a fuck ramming out some slices of noisy shit-fi-pop accentuated with dippy keyboard sounds and blabbermouth vocals.

eat.jpgEAT SKULL

We here at Dusted came before you exactly one year ago and proffered the notion that the lo-fi garage-pop movement, then steadily gaining momentum, was a sound that "belonged to everyone and no one," and that Eat Skull's debut Sick to Death was an interesting case in context because of how they were seasoned enough to understand their place in history. Rather than getting swept up in the media's zeal for the rise of lo-fi, the band cursed the idea that any of these kids - from Times New Viking to Blank Dogs to Sic Alps - could remember the last time this exact calamity overcame the press. Eat Skull were a kind of self-knowing wink to those with enough of a memory to connect Crystal Stilts and the Crocodiles with Guided By Voices and early Royal Trux acts.

japan.jpgJAPANDROIDS

Japandroids (aka JPNDRDS) is a two piece band from Vancouver, BC. This 'band' started in 2006 as a creative outlet for the post-teenage angst of Brian King and David Prowse. Originally intended to be a trio, the boys decided to forgo the logistical nightmare of having a 'lead singer' and do it themselves. As a consequence, Japandroids are 1 guitar, 1 set of drums, and 2 vocalizers. They call it garage rock. They don't care what you call it, as long as it's not minimal. Japandroids are maximal - a two piece band trying to sound like a five piece band. Supporting Japandroids gets you into Heaven - no questions asked. KISS OFF.

capgun.jpgCAPGUN COUP.

The members of Capgun Coup, Sam Martin, Greg Elsasser, Eric Ohlsson and Andy Matz, are not the most well-versed students of rock music, and so their debut album, Nebraskafish, demonstrates a refined sonic schizophrenia. The story starts three years ago in suburban Omaha, Nebraska, where Elsasser and Martin began playing music together. Mutual boredom and an interest in avant noise would fuel the duo's early collaborations, but after a move downtown and after the addition of two members (Matz on bass and Ohlsson on drums), Capgun Coup became less interested in white noise, and completely enamored with pop.

meth.jpgMETH TEETH

Dreamy folk-like rock, four songs worth, fairly low-fi with some electric/acoustic interplay, ramshackle rhythm section. Very ethereal, hazy kind of hippie-ish vibing, heavy touches of psych involved as well. Really natural sounding, I'm sure that means nothing to you, but I mean it has a outdoors-country sort of thing going on, a real homespun quality...I don't want to say jug-band-like, but it definitely has an eerily lit sitting-around-the-campfire feel and/or laying in the hot grass while the sun warms your face and pushes you toward daydream moments...perhaps a stream nearby, flowing quiet and lazy as it erodes the stone, the faintest hum of the gears moving inside the earth...but not as earth-mother corny as I just made it sound.

fresh.jpgTHE FRESH & ONLYS

The San Francisco area has no shortage of amazing garage/psych/pop bands. The Fresh & Onlys are one of the latest, having only been together for about a year but have quickly become ones to watch with an onslaught of releases on a variety of labels like Chuffed (Kelley Stoltz's new label), John Dwyer's Castle Face, and Seattle's Dirty Knobby, as well as upcoming platters on HoZac and Woodsist. (They stay busy.) Founders Tim Cohen and Shayde Sartin are no strangers to bands, though, having spent time in Black Fiction and the Skygreen Leopards, respectively... among many others.

kurt.jpgKURT VILE

Philly singer-songwriter Kurt Vile is an interesting anomaly. On the one hand, he's totally at home in the recent wave of no-fi eardrum-abusers. He records all his stuff at home and seemingly through a couple of layers of blankets, Woodsist reissued his 2008 debut album Constant Hitmaker, and his name sounds absolutely disgusting even if it is his honest-to-God birth name. On the other hand, he's perfectly capable of cranking out gorgeous windows-down car-radio jams like the recently BNMed track "Freeway"; the title of that debut album may not have been entirely sarcastic.

realestate.jpgREAL ESTATE

Everything's coming up Jersey. Real Estate have roots in the Garden State and they're led by singer/guitarist Martin Courtney and feature guitarist Matthew Mondanile (the latter known to some for his work in Ducktails). They've played shows with both Vivian Girls and Titus Andronicus, but "Black Lake", from their debut 7", doesn't sound much like either of those bands (who also don't much sound like each other). Instead, it's a fuzzy, sweetly simple sea chantey (or in this case, I guess a "lake chantey") that reminds you of how awesome that last bonfire of the summer was, until the cops showed up and you had to run for your life. The song wafts in on a slinky bassline playing all by its lonesome, and then a sleepwalking slide guitar (ready for a couples-only dance on prom night), tapping cymbals, and Courtney's reverbed voice complete the picture, leaving plenty of open space to stick your head inside of. "Black Lake" is a jangly, hazy slice of nostalgia for those of us who still have love for America's forgotten playground.

fruitsand.pngFRUIT SAND

Lately, there's been a growing trend in noise pop/psuedo-punk/60s throwback mixed with trash culture/shitgaze or whatever. Many hipsters are eager to throw away those dusty old "compact discs" in favor of vinyl and tapes from new, noisy bands. Many have sprung up within the last year or so; however, there is one project out there, unique in the fact that the ratio of noise to pop is about 5:1, Carter Mullin's band Fruit Sand. Be aware that this is VERY heavy stuff -- it's not all sun 'n' surf here. Carter is not late to the game: he was making noisy music before most people even decided they needed to sound like the epitome of "noise pop." Rather than fuzz, Carter's songs are buried in midrange thrash and the guitars saw through the mix, blasting into your ear canal with blunt force. Trashy UFO Dreambag is filled with thrashing, melodic songs that range from hints of power-pop (see "Nothing Makes Sense") to harsh sonic endurance tests. It's pretty damn impressive stuff, considering that his focus on texture makes contemporaries pale in comparison. The guitar tones bleed into each other, creating a seamless, droning flow in the vein of Lovesliescrushing, and Trashy UFO Dreambag is a nice way to remind yourself that buzzing amps should lead to buzzing ears.

Vale a pena a visita.

blank.jpeg BLANK DOGS

To call the one-man project Blank Dogs prolific is a bit of an understatement. Although Blank Dogs releases have been of the small-potatoes variety (being issued on a number of small independent labels), they have been numerous and critically well received: 2007 saw a number of the project's releases on critical best-of lists, and more was sure to come in 2008, as Blank Dogs had prepared a slate of a dozen releases for that year. This rather unbelievable list included some 7" EPs, an untitled full-length, and a handful of singles anthologies on labels like Troubleman, Slowboy, and 4:4:2.

dumdum.jpgDUM DUM GIRLS

As Nate William's solo bedroom project Wavves has gained indie label and internet success, Dum Dum Girls is, in similar start-up fashion, the solo project of one girl with remarkable talent. Dee Dee, a librarian from LA, has the vocal quality and song writing sense to make music magic. I see big big tings for her, especially with Hozac, Black Dogs, Victim of Time (...etc) in support. Not to mention the direction of her sound is packed with extremely catchy charming vocal melodies supported by this slight power twee noise-pop rhythm. Think the haunting aura of black tambourine combined with the angelic allure of Tracy Tracy from the Primitives (but better).

pony.jpgPONYTAIL

A four-piece multi-style rock act that drew comparisons to Deerhoof and Ecstatic Sunshine, Ponytail released their first slab of infectious sugar-fueled two-guitar trad punk (Kamehameha on Creative Capitalism) in January of 2007. The Baltimore, MD, quartet featured drummer Jeremy Hyman, guitarist Ken Seeno, and other guitarist (and Ecstatic Sunshine member) Dustin Wong, all fronted by the vast array of sounds that was vocalist Molly Siegel. Winning critical praise for their hyper noisy live show that evoked elements of heavy-duty riffage, yells, growls, art rock, surf rock, ska, and Indian war chants, the outfit of youngsters appeared at the South by Southwest music conference in Austin, TX, in the early part of 2008. A limited-edition pressing for Magic Bullet followed in May; by the year's end, Nicolas Vernhes (Silver Jews, Ted Leo, Fischerspooner) signed on to remix and remaster I Was Born at Night for Troubleman Unlimited. iddle.jpgIDLE TIMES

Anyway, Idle Times traffic in murky garage fuzz. Some of the songs have strains of traditional 60s rock, others have a ramped-up swagger like early 70s proto-punk, while others are as chaotic-melodic as early indie rock (and by indie rock, I'm talking Dinosaur Jr. etc, not the Arcade Fire). Speaking of Dinosaur, there are even some spiraling, scorching solos here reminiscent of J. Mascis' rawest work. Judging from these Myspace selections alone, it seems the songs are all clawing their way out of a layer of 90s grunge sludge...which is pure heaven for someone like me, who prefers his music to be unwashed and unshaven.

ganglian-monster head roomCDcover.jpgGANGLIANS

Sacramento's Ganglians want an island somewhere where they can soak in the sun and prowl the canopy by night. It's not often that they do get out, but they can get down for that. Recording sometimes as one, sometimes as four it's a real game to figure out where the entity comes from and where it's going. First and foremost it's about uncertain pleasures. It's a bit like choose your own adventure. There's "codeine balladry"; a slightly upsetting tempo that is quickly flushed into an aural high, the next moment you're in the toy strewn abyss of the bedroom and then out to the tribal caves of the natives. The planets align and the sun beats down, palms tingling, and you are on the island they've built, the scenery constantly shifting for a better view, of you.

d3ö - lançamento do disco

Veio também a confissão da noite "When I was young, I thought Neil Young was stupid, then I grow up and I've realized Neil Young was cool! NEIL YOUNG IS COOL! NEIL YOUNG IS COOL!"

Mas para mim, Deerhunter is even more cool!!
